Bible newcomers, welcome
We’ve been paraphrasing this Bible especially for people who haven’t read the Bible. Then it came to our attention:
“So what? All you have is a bunch of Bible chapters and a lot of maps that don’t interest me.”
A fellow said that to us, more politely. But his point hit home. We didn’t have anything to introduce Bible newcomers to the Bible. We just tossed it at them and said, “We wrote this for you.”
“Wrote what?” they could ask. “What is the Bible? Where’d it come from? Why should I believe it? And we’re in a hurry. Kickoff’s in 15.”
Where to go from here
We’ve been paraphrasing the Bible, writing the footnotes, making the maps, doing the background videos…and doing it all in a style that we hope would appeal to people who know nothing about the Bible, but would like to know.
But we’re here to do more. There’s background material that longtime Christians have already absorbed. But it’s new stuff to others, and it’s often met with skepticism.
We’re okay with skepticism and doubts. That’s where faith begins.
But for now, here’s some basic background info about the Bible, and the books inside.
Relax, we’re not trying to convince you or convert you. That’s not our job. Our job is to tell you the story.
What happens between you and God is between you and God.
As best you’re able, feel welcome in the place. It was build for you. It would be a lonely place without you.
